Andre Adams

January 13, 1954 – May 19, 2021

In San Francisco, CA on January 13th, 1954, Esker and Mary Adams birthed their second baby boy Andre. He grew up in a strict but loving home with a keen sense of doing things in an orderly fashion. The family grew, and he was baptized early as is tradition in the Catholic faith. He was educated in San Francisco.

He loved sports in general but found that he was particularly gifted in baseball. His passions also included movies and comic books. He amassed an enviable collection of first edition comic books, which he maintained in pristine condition.

As a young man he landed his dream job at Mr. Z’s, a popular menswear store. He learned how to dress, how to style customers, and was a natural at customer service. He was well established there and a customer service salesman.

He met and married the lovely young Lori Ann Joseph, and they birthed a daughter, Amanda Sharrell Adams. He was a devoted husband and mindful father. He joined Lori’s church home Zion Tabernacle MBC and began his Christian walk under Bishop Alonzo Emerson, Sr. As the Adams family flourished, the recession took it’s toll on Mr. Z’s, and Andre moved on with his family. In 1995 he began working for Federal Express. In 2000 he began working as a custodian for the Berkeley Unified school district. Some years he later survived a major medical condition that forced him to retire early. He often recounted how grateful he was for Lori, Amanda, Lori’s family, and Zion being in his life during that time in his life.

During an elegant 25th wedding vow renewal ceremony in Las Vegas, the couple decided they would retire there. Upon Lori’s retirement, they arrived, purchased a newly-built home, and settled in in the midst of a world-wide pandemic.

In the last hour of the day on May 19th Andre answered God’s call to come home. Andre is with his brother Anthony and brother-in-law Alvin, his god son Davyon, Andre’s parents, Lori’s parents, and the heavenly host.

Left to cherish his memory is his Lovely wife Lori and their beautiful daughter Amanda. His sisters Jeanette, LaVonne, Percy, Nita, Joy, Mary, Phroney, Kimberly, and Denise; His brothers Deryle, Bernard, Bobby, Adrian and Mosi.
