We honor and celebrate the Inspiring Life of DORIS VALDEZ. Doris will be cherished and remembered through the legacy of her family and friends.

A LIFE WELL LIVED

On most days you receive glimpses of the beauty in life, sometimes big, sometimes, small. Doris Valdez helped us see them all. Entering this world on February 12, 1946, she was both elegant and a little frayed at the edges. Her strong spirit softened her rough spots and pushed her through the challenges she experienced. She chose to focus her energy on the gifts of beauty many of us take for granted.

She led her life without regrets, but she did so much more than that. She encouraged others to do the same, showing them the beauty she personified. Resilient and tough, she also experienced her share of heartbreak but continued to live life on her own terms, answering to no one. She learned her lessons and shared her mistakes. Her creative, funny, and no-nonsense manner led to exciting and hilarious moments in her life, never being afraid to “tell it like it is.”

She worked as a paralegal for much of her life and at home, she enjoyed crafting, cooking new recipes, and Wednesday night game nights with family and friends. Her greatest accomplishment was her twin children, Dean and Dee, and she recently shared, “They are great parents to their children. I hope they know I’m proud of them.”

On April 26, 2023, Doris left our world peacefully so she could shine brightly in the sky with her parents, Alfonso and Lola Gonzales, her beloved husband, Patrick Valdez, and her grandson, Brandon Delos Reyes. She now watches over her family with love: son, Dean Gonzales (Merilie), daughter, Dee Gonzales (Rod); grandchildren, Shawn, Matthew, Ester (Tyson), Jonathan, Ivan, Orrin, Rori, David, Adam, Amber Delos Reyes; great-grandchildren, River, Irie, Jessica, Grayson, Ciri, Keegan, Sophia, Lex; and relative, Tamera Miyasato (Charles and Lucian).

As we think about what life will hold without our dear mother, grandmother, and friend, we look for the beauty of each day. We promise not to focus on tears but to laugh instead. That is what she asked of us. So, to that elegant woman, still a bit frayed at the edges, we carry on and let her spirit free.
