Earl G. Smith, Jr., a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away on August 7, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 64. He was a ray of light, strength and joy to all who knew him.

Born on April 21, 1962, in Los Angeles, California, Earl spent his early years in Los Angeles, where he attended St. Odelias Elementary and later Jefferson High School. Over the years, Earl went on to hone his skills in brick masonry and painting in Washington state and worked as a Longshoreman at San Pedro Harbor in Los Angeles. He continued his career as Installation Manager with Machabee Office Environments, where he proudly served for 20 years before retiring.

Earl had a way of lighting up every room he entered. He was known for his engaging personality and quick wit, his ease in connecting with others, and his ability to make everyone feel like an old friend. He truly never met a stranger. Those who knew Earl will cherish the memories of his laughter, his warmth, his understanding, and the genuine joy he brought into the lives of those around him.

He was also an avid football fan. His unwavering loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys was well known to everyone who knew him. His love for the game and the Cowboys was truly infectious. Earl had a remarkable memory and could recall games, players, and memorable moments in vivid detail. Talking Cowboys with Earl was always lively and engaging. His genuine enthusiasm was contagious and made everyone around him feel connected to the game and his passion for the team.

Earl was preceded in death by his father, Earl G. Smith, Sr., and his mother, Dorothy Nell Cummings. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 11 years, Shanna Wade-Smith; his four daughters, Xochitl Smith-Taggart, Shauntia LaShawn Smith, Randi C. Wade, and Ashley E. Anderson; his sister, Paula M. Logan and brother-in-law, Mark Logan; his eight grandchildren, Sage Taggart, Jade Taggart, Mya Covarrubias, Anthony Covarrubias, Faith Wade, Elijah Anderson, Amen Anderson, and Chalyn Anderson; his son-in-law, General Taggart; his nieces Keisha Morganfield and Kimberly Carlson; along with a host of loving family members and friends.

Earl will be remembered for his loving personality, his kindness and strength, and the love he shared with those around him. He had a thoughtful and grounded way of relating to others and a way of making those he cared for understand the value they held in his life. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Earl's life will be held on August 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Inspired Life Memorials of Summerlin, located at 311 North Buffalo Drive, Las Vegas, Nevada. His memory will remain with those whose lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
