Ella Lee Dokes, 72, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her oldest sister, Mary. She was born on May 12, 1953, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Ella professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and held steadfast to her faith throughout her life, even unto her passing. Her love for God was evident in how she lived, how she loved, and how she led her family.
Ella was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy came from her children and the generations that followed. She is survived by her six children: Angela (Vernon) Rowlette, Brenda Howard, Karyes Stockdale, Katrina Young (Azizi) , Latrina Young, and Dejuanae Kirkpatrick. She was deeply loved and will be cherished always by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, A.B. Beasley; her mother, Margie Anderson; her stepfather, Charles Anderson Sr.; and her sister, Wilma J. Anderson.
Ella also leaves to cherish her memory her beloved siblings: brothers Ray Anderson; Troy Anderson Sr. (Kimberly); Tony Anderson (Samantha); Charles Anderson Jr. (Mishanda); and Equador Wylie (Sherrie); and sisters Mary Braxton (Delano) and Ann Anderson.
A woman of strength and determination, Ella demonstrated a remarkable work ethic. While raising her children, she returned to school and earned her degree from National City College—an accomplishment that reflected her perseverance and commitment to growth. Her example continues to live on through her children.
Ella was a faithful member of Greater Antioch Church of God in Christ, San Diego, CA. She later placed her membership at The Wealthy Place Ministries after relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada. Her faith remained a cornerstone of her life.
Known for her warm spirit, Ella loved to cook, laugh, and bring joy to those around her. She especially cherished any occasion that involved giving or receiving gifts, as those moments allowed her to express love in a special way. She adored her children fiercely and raised them to love God, love themselves, and strive to be the best human beings possible.
Ella also held a deep love for her mother and siblings, often speaking of them with fondness and pride.
Ella Lee Dokes leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, strength, and devotion to family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
