We are saddened to announce the passing of Jimmie Allen Merritt on March 31, 2026. He died peacefully at the family home in Henderson, Nevada, following a long battle with diabetes.

Jimmie was born November 23,1948, in Uvalde, Texas. He enjoyed an active childhood in Rocksprings public schools participating in sports, and other activities. Following graduation he attended San Antonio College. He worked as a computer programmer for H. B. Zachary Company.
During this time, Jimmie married the love of his life Jami Kay Barrett on August 10,1973, in San Antonio where they made their home and raised their son Michael Allen Merritt.
Following his retirement. Jimmie and Jami moved to Henderson, Nevada where they resided for many years until his recent passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sidney and Marjorie Merritt, a brother Sidney Emory Merritt Jr. (Sonny), and in-laws James and Opal Barrett.
Jimmie is survived by his wife Jami of Henderson, NV and their son Michael Allen Merritt of San Antonio; his sister Sherian Merritt Sweeten (John) of Kerrville; a brother Jackie Merritt of La Pryor, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Jimmie in his earthly life. 

Following his wishes, his remains will be cremated, and a family memorial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Rocksprings Cemetery Association.
