Karla Watson Philippus

Karla Watson Philippus (née Karla Sue Watson), 78, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Desert View Senior Living.Karla was fiercely proud of her roots, having been born and raised in Neville Township on Neville Island (affectionately known as “The Island”) in Pennsylvania. She was one of two children born to Elizabeth McCue Watson and Wallace Lloyd Watson, and was predeceased by her beloved younger brother, Terry Watson.A 1964 graduate of Neville Island High School, Karla went on to attend Duff’s Business Institute before beginning her career at the Dravo Corporation. She worked as a bookkeeper throughout her life, known for her diligence, professionalism and attention to detail.On August 9, 1975, Karla married John Louis Philippus, who preceded her in death. Together, they raised two sons and lived in several cities—including Pittsburgh, PA; Wheeling, WV; and Carlsbad, NM—before settling in Las Vegas, NV, on August 9, 1985.Karla had many interests and talents. She enjoyed bowling, knitting, and actively participating in her church, where she served as both a member and a deacon. Above all, she cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren.Karla is survived by her two sons, Brian and Scott; her daughter-in-law, Vanessa; and her two beloved grandchildren, Hannah and Elijah.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 8601 Del Webb Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89134.
