We honor and celebrate the Inspiring Life and legacy of PATRICIA CLAYTON-SMITH.

Patricia Clayton-Smith was born in 1943 in Sparta, Illinois, to the late Addie Clayton and Otto Jones. During her years in Sparta, Patricia faithfully served in her church as a Sunday school teacher and joyfully sang in the church choir. In 1961, she relocated with her family to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she would spend the remainder of her life building a legacy defined by faith, perseverance, hard work, and unwavering devotion to her family. Patricia believed deeply in the value of education and proudly earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Throughout her career, she dedicated herself to serving others. She worked at the Nevada Test Site, various hotels along the Las Vegas Strip, where she served in the accounting department, the United States Postal Service, and ultimately found her calling with the Clark County School District. There, she faithfully served for 26 years before retiring, touching countless lives through her commitment and dedication. 

In 1993, Patricia married George Smith, beginning a new chapter filled with companionship, love, and cherished memories that they shared until his passing. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Addie Clayton and Otto Jones; her beloved husband, George Smith; and her cherished siblings: Leona, Gladys, Lindy, Rita, Stanley, Dorothy, Emily, Ulishes, and Julius. She is survived by her daughter, Rochelle Hodges, and son-in-law Reverend Vassar Hodges; her daughter, Stephanie Macklin; her grandchildren, Courtney Anderson, Starlynn Macklin, Brittney and Jerry Bostic, Christian and Artinna Jenkins, Cameron Jenkins, and Vassar Hodges Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Aniyah Brown, Jayden Brown, Braxton Anderson, Aubrey Anderson, Cheyne Williams, Harmoni Jenkins, Christian Jenkins Jr., Gabby Ewell, Noah Summers, Ryland Bostic, and Carter Bostic. She was also blessed to witness the next generation as the great-great-grandmother of Khy’airr Brown and Josiah Brown. She also leaves behind a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives she touched in countless ways. 

To know Patricia was to know a woman who lived boldly. She was full of life and laughter and possessed a sense of style that turned heads wherever she went. Always impeccably dressed, Patricia carried herself with confidence, remarkable strength, and quiet resilience. She faced life’s challenges with courage and grace, leaving an unforgettable impression on everyone who was blessed to know her. Patricia also had a remarkable gift in the kitchen. She was an exceptional cook who found great joy in preparing meals for those she loved. One of the many ways she expressed her love was by sending family members home with plates filled with delicious food. Those thoughtful acts of generosity became treasured memories that her loved ones will carry with them forever. Most importantly, Patricia accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, a decision that gives her family abiding peace and hope today. 

Although her physical presence will be deeply missed, we rejoice in God’s promise found in 2 Corinthians 5:8: “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” We also find comfort in Philippians 3:20–21, which reminds us that “our citizenship is in heaven,” where we eagerly await our Savior, Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly bodies to be like His glorious body. Though we grieve her absence, we celebrate the blessed assurance that Patricia is now in the presence of her Savior—whole, at peace, and forever at home with the Lord. Patricia’s love for her family, steadfast work ethic, generous heart, vibrant spirit, and enduring faith leave a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind and in the lasting example of a life lived with love, determination, faith, and unwavering strength. She was deeply loved, will be profoundly missed, and will forever be remembered. There will never be another Patricia Clayton-Smith

Services for Patricia will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at Destiny Christian Center, located at 6210 W. Cheyenne Ave, Las Vegas Nevada, 89108.
