Pedro Orozco Durazo, 69, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on December 4, 2025.
He was born in Tucson, Arizona, on January 10, 1956, to Enrique and Soledad Durazo, the eighth of ten children. Pedro moved to Las Vegas in 1976 after earning a wrestling scholarship to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. This became the place where he planted his roots, built his life, and shaped his legacy. He spent most of his professional career with the United States Probation System and, nearly 20 years later, retired as a Senior U.S. Probation Officer. Retirement did little to slow him down—Pedro loved staying busy and took on numerous jobs simply because he enjoyed working, connecting with people, and contributing wherever he could.
Wrestling was the passion that threaded through every chapter of his life. He coached youth wrestling with pure joy, seeing the sport not only as competition but as a way to teach discipline, build character, and give back to his community. To Pedro, wrestling was a language—one he used to guide, encourage, and lift up others.
He will be remembered for his respectful nature, compassion, honesty, thoughtful spirit, and unmatched work ethic. Those who knew him also knew his favorite comforts: rocky road ice cream, El Pollo Loco, and blueberries. He found peace in the outdoors and he took laundry and folding more seriously than most people take taxes.
Pedro is survived by his devoted wife, Megan; his daughters, Josefine and Bri; and his sons, Petey, Leo, and Jacob. He is also survived by his mother, siblings and extended family, who carry his memory forward with love.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Roman Catholic Church, with a reception to follow.
