Emblem

It's with great sadness that I inform all of the death of my brother Salvador M. Huerta Jr. He passed away on April 16th, 2025, in Henderson, Nevada where he resided.

Sal was born on July 9th, 1955 to Salvador Huerta Sr. and Helen Flores Huerta at St. Mary's Hospital in Scottsbluff. He attended Roosevelt grade school, Scottsbluff Junior High School and graduated from Scottsbluff Senior high with the class of 1975. While in high school he played football for the Bearcats, and excelled in wrestling in high school.

Shortly after graduation, Sal joined the US Navy and served this country. He served on the aircraft carrier the USS Ranger, stationed on the island of Guam. He toured much of the pacific while serving. Sal loved to travel and was able to even travel to the Holy Land before illness unabled him. After his discharge from the Navy, Sal studied at Colorado State University earning his BS in Micro Biology.

Sal worked with the Nevada Department of Reclamation , Environment and Water Division as a research microbiologist until his retirement.
Like his father, Sal enjoyed tinkering with cars. He always seemed to be working on some car in disrepair. He was always a fitness buff and loved to power lift and exercise. He studied the martial arts and was a Black Belt in White Tiger Kung Fu planning to become a Master in the art. Sal loved to cook and was quite a talented cook, priding himself on preparing fresh ,wholesome dishes. He never depended on fast food for a meal.

Sal leaves behind his wife Judy; his sons Desi Huerta, and Mitchell Corder of Las Vegas , NV. and daughter Cailene Huerta of Switzerland; Sister Bea Huerta Reyes and brother in-law. Nick Reyes of Scottsbluff, NE. and sister Gloria Torres of Gillette ,WY,; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; two nephews, five nieces , two great-nephews and three great-nieces plus numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

Those who are waiting for Sal in the glorious kingdom are his parents; his paternal grandparents Manuela Ledezma Huerta and Pascual Huerta Sr.; maternal grandparents Concepcion Soto Flores Rodriguez and Patricio Flores; angel sisters Cynthia and Bernice Huerta, numerous aunts; uncles; cousins and friends.

We will always love you and miss you. Until we see each other again.
